Welcome to Aperio

Aperio is a calendar and task planner built from the ground up to be fully usable with a screen reader – without ever having to switch to browse mode. At the same time, it is a fast, native desktop app. It also runs as a mobile app on iOS and Android – see Mobile app.

This guide walks you step by step through every core feature. No prior knowledge required.

  • Multiple calendars and task lists in one place – Google, iCloud, Outlook/Exchange, Vikunja, Todoist and more, plus local calendars that work without any account.
  • Events and tasks – create, edit, move and repeat them.
  • Contacts – address books from the same accounts, with labelled phone numbers and email addresses, plus birthday calendars derived from them.
  • Different views – day, week, month, year, agenda and a dedicated task view.
  • Reminders with sounds and snooze.
  • Search across events and tasks.
  • Cross-device synchronization via your own storage (e.g. WebDAV or Dropbox).

The Tutorial builds on itself – it is best read in order:

  1. Installation & First Launch
  2. Connecting Calendars and Task Lists
  3. Events
  4. Tasks
  5. Contacts
  6. Views
  7. Notifications
  8. Search
  9. Synchronization
  10. Keyboard Shortcuts

In the Reference section you will find the full shortcut overview and a dedicated page on accessibility with tips for NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and Narrator.

Screen-reader note: Every chapter contains a box like this one. It describes how Aperio behaves with a screen reader and what to look out for.
